I have a theory regarding people who are psychic or have somewhat adept psychic tendencies. My theory is that these people use both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously. Thus because of this dual hemisphere usage, no matter how minute, they have trouble distinguishing between their left and their right.
Agree/Disagree and explain Why?
During the months I've been in the community, I have seen some great discussion topics and I really miss that. We all know of those little shadow bastards (no office unless you're the ones bugging me). We've talk about them in our dreams and somethings similar out of our dreams but here we go again I suppose. I'm curious to know if you guys have seen these little shits running around your house. Do we know if they're a threat and if so how do we take care of them, turn on a light? Now, I'm not sure if there's different types of shadows really, I may have missed that discussion but these guy were called Shadow people. I head of a story about a woman who actually saw one of this things. She was sitting in her bed trying to go back to sleep and she saw one, not out of the corner of her eye but right in front of her. I'm gonna assume they look like people, with arms and legs. I even hear some have faces, now that's just freaking freaky. The woman said it scared the hell out of her but what could she do, she just basiclly had a staring contest with it tell she fell asleep. I'm sure this post brings nothing new to the board but I found it informative and amusing. So much so it kept me and my nephew up all night lol. I tried to post the weblink from where I got this information but I'm not sure if it worked. If not I'll repost it later, Enjoy.
Since it has been a little quite here lately I thought I would pose a question I have been pondering for a while now.
I was wondering if titles in the spirtual/etheric realms often have to do with what the actual title is. I know that in front of some councils one of the titles given when I am introduced or discusses is "Seamstress." I've always thought it was odd, because aside from two ren faire costumes, all of my sewing is cross-stitching, meaning decorative pieces. I don't make my living through sewing nor do I make or mend dresses (excluding the costumes) both of which are part of the definition of a seamstress.
I could understand if someone was given a title of "Guardian of such and such" but "Seamstress"? The one person who knows why I have the title is tight-lipped about it and always seems to laugh when I ask him why. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts?
Jeez, come on people, this place has been silent for over a month? Is it "officially" dead or not? How depressing =(
This is Ash.I just wanted everyone to know about my new online store, Bad Magic Designs. I have two lines just for Vampyres and Otherkin. The vampyre line is called "Of the blood"and the otherkin line is called "Awakened". The Awakened Line also sports a bladed ankh/vampyre design. In addition there are also some Occult, pagan, and left hand path themed products as well. I feel that the two lines are a new way for and individual to not only proudly and tastefully display their interest and awareness, but to also call to those of like minds as well. Please check them out. Here's the link:
I'm relatively new to the whole Otherkin concept of dragons, weres, demons etc and was wondering how people know what they are. Is it always an intuitive thing or are there certain characteristics? Is it a spiritual bond like with a power animal or is it more that you have the spirit of that particular being inside you? I hadn't heard much about it until I came here and find it quite intriguing :)

Hello? Anyone? This place still alive? Doesn't look like it...
How utterly depressing.
Hello :) My name is Rhiannon and I'm twenty and living in Ireland. I am Pagan and have been for the last seven years but I'm not sure which sub-category I fall into yet. For the first couple of years I was leaning heavily on Witchcraft and then had a bit of down time in my mid-teens and kind of lost contact with everything. I've since relaunched my quest for spiritual enlightenment and have found out that there is so much to learn and experience and that there are things that exist that you might never have thought possible. Over the last couple of years I haved learned that I am an Indigo and I also think I fit into the the Wise One category of Doreen Virtue's "Earth Angels". I have recently been working on interacting with the angels and have taken up yoga which helps when trying to do visualizations and meditation. I was in college for a year and while I was there I was in the Pagan Society but it disbanded shortly after I left and since then I've had virtually no contact with anyone interested or experiencing the sames things I am. For the last year or so I've been constantly reading spirituality-based books (alot of Doreen Virtue) so I can keep learning. At the moment I'm nearly finished Brian Bates "The Way of Wyrd". It's quite good :) For the moment I just know that I'm Pagan, Indigo and a Wise One but there seems to be alot more than that here so I don't know yet if I fit into any of the other categories but I guess there's plenty of time to find out.
Now for the the normal, everyday stuff: I'm currently in college studying for an advanced diploma in IT and a diploma in business management while working part-time at the weekends. I'm in a long-term relationship with the greatest guy on the earth, Danny and we've been together for almost two years. He's not very spiritually-minded and thinks I'm a little crazy most of the time :P
I think that's about it and I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next few weeks :)

not exactly kin related, but since I love psychology and this place needs a pick-me-up, I give you a few intriguing scenes from "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence", for those who haven't seen it.
The good cop, Batou, is conversing with the bad guy, Kim, who is a criminal currently hiding out in a rather ravaged cyborg body. The premise is that "pet" cyborgs, used basically for sex, are murdering their masters before killing themselves. They suspect that it is because they have somehow been given "ghosts", or souls, but Kim has absolutely no idea that if this is true, and also no idea why anyone would want to in the first place. His reasoning goes like this:
Kim: "...the definition of a truly beautiful doll is a living, breathing body devoid of a soul. "an unyeilding corpse tiptoing on the brink of collapse". The human is no match for a doll in its form, its elegance in motion, its very being. The inadequacies of human awareness become the inadequacies of life's reality. Perfection is possibile only for those whithout consciousness, or perhaps those endowed with infinite consciousness. In other words, for dolls and for gods."
"...actually, there's one more mode of existance commensurate with dolls and dieties."
Kim: "Shelly's skylarks are suffused with a profound instinctive joy, joy we humans, driven by self-consciousness, can never know. For those of us who lust after knowledge, it is a condition more elusive than godhood."
"Without knowing life, houw can we know death? Even Confucious himself says this. It is a rare person who knows death. Most meed death unprepared, armed only with ignorant familiarity. People die simply because it is inevitable."
"The doubt is whether a creature that certainly appears to be alive really is. Alternately, the doubt that a lifeless object might actually live. That is why dolls haunt us. They are modelled on humans, the are, in fact, nothing but human. They make us face the terror of being reduced to simple mechanism and matter. They fear that, fundamentally, all humans belong to the void. Further, science, seeking to unlock the secrets of life, brought about this terror. The notion that nature is calculable inevitably leads to the conclusion that humans too are reduced to basic, mechanical parts."
Batou: "The human body is a machine which winds it's own springs. It is the living image of perpetual motion."
Another quote I like from near the end is from the Major, also a cybog and the main character from the first movie:
"Who can gaze into the mirror without becoming evil? A mirror does not reflect evil, but creates it. Thus a mirror bears a glimps but not scrutiny."
Those of you who haven't seen both Ghost in the Shell movies should go out and get them right now! =D
Hello, my name is Willow. I'm a fae, although I supposedly have more than one set of wings, the other being feathered. Over the years I've tended to avoid otherkin places on the net, usually due to the fact I've yet to find one that practiced what it preached with the whole "tolerance and acceptance" spiel. I've found that a large majority of the kin I've met so far are completely egocentristic dicks, which is quite unfortunate. Seems being "kin" gives them superiority over the masses -_-. I have only met three kin in person, and am tired of feeling like I'm living in the shadows as an outcast. I'm currently alone while my husband, a dragon, is away, and am very lonely. Hopefully this will be a place I can consider a haven of sorts, because I'm a little jaded with the bad luck I've had to date.
I'll give more about myself little by little, as telling everything right away to people I don't know or trust has done nothing but give me grief....=/
my apologies if I sound awkward...
